BOOK TOKENS 75 YEARS OLD TODAY!
National Book Tokens began in 1932 after Harold Raymond, a publisher, noted with dismay, that, of the innumerable Christmas gifts received by his friends and family only three were books. He questioned the “capacity for giving pleasure” of many of the presents received, commenting that surely a book is more welcome a gift than a “hatpin, ornament, photo frame or ashtray”
His conclusion was that the chief difficulty people found when giving a book was the fear of getting the wrong book, a fear he assumed did not “apply equally to cigarettes or powder puffs”.
Over 75 years later his invention is going strong, helping people across the UK and Ireland to share their love of books with friends and family, happy in the knowledge that they have chosen a gift worth giving.

eryca.co.uk
ERYCA is a small Bridlington based operation providing community accountancy services mainly, though not exclusively, in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull. Our overall aim is to develop the ability of voluntary and community sector organisations with charitable aims, to manage their money more efficiently and effectively. Therefore enabling those organisations to better attain the objectives they were set up to achieve.
'eryca.co.uk' not only provides information about all the services offered, but also information about financial management and accounting in the voluntary and community sector. We hope you will find the website useful - please email us if you have any comments or would like any further information.
As well as providing quality community accountancy services the site also allows you access to a resource library of information about your accounts and what you need to do, where to go for assistance and advice around financial management and compliance.
Unlike many high street commercial accountants who charge clients by the hour, we offer a simple, affordable method.
All charges are based on a fixed fee of £75 plus 0.5% (half percent) of turnover, therefore making this service very affordable even to small groups and voluntary organisations.
I look forward to being of assistance to you.

East Riding Jobs
2007 has brought a business grant for our jobsite. As part of the 'Opportunity Knocks Project' we are pleased to announce that we have been awarded an 'Encouraging Entrepreneurs Business Development Grant' the finance from which is to be used on further extensive marketing campaigns to promote the added value that our site brings to the recruitment industry in the region :
'the best value recruitment advertising money can buy'
In Bridlington we have invested on posters all around town - on the Public Information Pillars - including one outside the Job Centre. We now also advertise each month in the free newspaper 'East Riding News' featuring in the recruitment section. So don't restrict your audience to the collective 130,000 plus potential viewers the local rag (oops sorry - Bridlington Free Press) claim their group are limited to in the region, when just the one promotional feature alone we have in 'East Riding News' reaches a total of more than 145,500 homes - this being just a fraction of our colossal global audience - hits per week to this site are more than double the figure of the 31,793 'readers' the local newspaper have, plus most of our 'readers' are active job seekers. Today it is a fact of life that the majority of people looking for work no longer regularly buy tabloid newspapers to aid their search, in the same numbers as they once did:
THE BUSIEST JOBSITE IN THE REGION, THE SITE IS NOW THE PREFERRED MEDIUM FOR LOCAL RECRUITMENT
The website's audience is currently growing on a daily basis and we believe this is mainly due to our acquisition in 2006 of both the eastyorkshirejobs.com and eastridingjobs.com all sites now operating as one. This equates to an even larger number of potential employees possibly viewing your advertisement. Also, we now feature high in the ratings on GOOGLE for internet job searches in our localised areas, one further reason to let US give YOU the best value coverage for your recruitment needs today. Jobseekers relocating to this area and those living just out of the immediate vicinity, DO NOT have access to the local newspapers, plus today browsing for jobs online, is the fastest growing internet trend, already in the top 5 just behind holidays/travel and one of the main contributing factors why the sales of newspapers have declined - more than 750million copies per year - since the 1980's

Garforth Bookshop 20 TODAY!
Happy 20th Birthday Garforth Bookshop!
Wednesday 6th May 1987 was opening day - who would have thought the Bookshop would go on to be the most successful independent Bookshop in Leeds and probably the whole of Northern England?
Roger Bernard Crossland - founder - with his company TOKENHOUSE.NET went on to create 100 unique web domains, the most successful being Firstbookshop.com now the fastest growing Internet Bookseller in the world today! Turnover at year end 31st March 2007 for Firstbookshop.com was up by 35% the only British Bookseller seeing real growth in its business, when in comparison for example Waterstones turnover for the same period showed a decline of 4.7% and the loss making American company Borders announced that they are to pull out of Britain.
The first month of the new financial year for Firstbookshop.com (April '07) saw sales rise a staggering 45% compared to the same month last year!
For sure in the City of Leeds neither Waterstones nor Borders have the same loyal following as Garforth Bookshop - established long before either of them came to the area and probably will be here long after they have both gone!
MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY TO GARFORTH BOOKSHOP

Bridlington Job Fair : JUST THE JOB

Jobs Fair Update: The event was a great success, with around 1000 people through the door - most of whom visited our stand, so you can imagine just how busy we were (sure did make the time pass though - was the 4pm close time before we knew it!). Our free employer advertising offer raised a few eyebrows and gained us dozens of new companies coming onboard. Next most popular thing enquired about was our CV listing service.
